SOCIAL JUSTICE JUSTICE FOR IMMIGRANTS (a letter from Margie Gaffney who is doing legal work in Granger with immigrants) Dear family and friends, The US Catholic Bishops Conference has introduced a brand new, interesting, and worthwhile campaign, Justice For Immigrants: A Journey of Hope. The Catholic Campaign for Immigration Reform. It has a good and worthwhile website, http://www.justiceforimmigrants.org which provides a lot of basic information on topics of immigration, immigration reform, and, of course, the Catholic Campaign for Immigration reform. The website tells about the issues, facts and figures, and what we can actually do to join the campaignnamely, educate our parishes, communities, and faith-based groups, and write letters to our congress people. As an aside, looking over the website will also orient you to the work I do on a day to day basis on the jobdirect representation of people trying to bring family members to the United States, people attempting to gain and maintain legal status in the United States, and people trying to avoid deportation from the United States. I hope you will take the opportunity to review the website. If you are interested in taking action or organizing others to take action, please email me at gaffneyma@msn.com, and I can help you organize an educational session or letter-writing party for your parish, community, or faith-based group. Sincerely, Margie Gaffney IPJC (Intercommunity Peace and Justice Center)
